Inversion Therapy Tables Recalled by Stamina Products Due to Fall Hazard

The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Inversion Therapy Tables

Units: About 2,000

Distributor: Stamina Products Inc., of Springfield, Mo.

Hazard: A weld in the center of the inversion table can fail when the table is in an inverted position, posing a fall hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Stamina Products has received three reports of weld failures. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves the following inversion therapy tables:

This exercise equipment allows consumers to fasten to the table in an upright position and safely invert. The model and serial number are located on the black Stamina label found to the left of the rubber stopper on the cross bar.

Sold by: Retailers nationwide and online from October 2005 through October 2007 for between $160 and $300.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled inversion tables immediately and contact Stamina Products to have the table picked up and to receive a free replacement inversion table or a refund.

Serious Injuries Prompt Recall of Mini-Trampolines – New Instructions to Be Provided To Consumers

WASHINGTON, D. C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should not assemble or disassemble this product until they have the revised assembly instructions.

Name of product: InMotion Trampolines

Units: About 668,000

Manufacturer: Stamina Products Inc., of Springfield, Mo.

Hazard: If a person assembles the trampoline alone and the outside rail is released momentarily, the trampoline can snap back into the folded position and strike the consumer, posing a risk of serious injury.

Incidents/Injuries: Stamina has received 13 reports of injuries including two concussions; a rotated disc; two reports of facial bone fractures; six injuries requiring stitches to the forehead, eyebrow, lip and/or chin; a corneal abrasion; and two reports of chipped teeth.

Description: The round, black mini-trampoline measures 36 inches across and has six 7-1/2 inch long metal legs. The mini-trampoline is used for in-place jogging and other cardiovascular exercises. Most mini-trampolines that have model numbers containing 35-1625 are included in the recall. Model 35-1625C and 35-1625CW units are not included in the recall. The model number along with the customer service and serial numbers are stamped on a black and white label on one of the legs containing the name “Stamina.”

Sold at: Wal-Mart, Play It Again Sports, and various other retail outlets nationwide and online sellers, including Wal-Mart.com, from August 2000 through March 2006 for about $20.

Manufactured in: China.

Remedy: Consumers should not assemble or disassemble these mini-trampolines until they have the revised assembly instructions. Consumers should contact Stamina immediately for new assembly instructions.

Elliptical Information

Stamina has modified the Owner’s Manuals for Magnetic 1772 Cross Trainer Elliptical, Air Resistance 1723 Cross Trainer, and Air 1725 Elliptical Cross Trainer. The modified Owner’s Manuals further emphasize the warnings and assembly instructions for securely tightening the pedal shafts to the cranks. If not securely tightened, the pedal shafts may become loose from the cranks, which may result in serious injury to the user and damage to the product.

Do not assemble or use these elliptical machines until you have reviewed the entire modified Owner’s Manual and, in particular, the warnings and assembly instructions for Step 6 (if you have Model 55-1772), Step 7 (if you have Model 55-1723), or Step 5 (if you have Model 55-1725).

You should immediately discard the original Owner’s Manual that accompanied the Magnetic 1772 Cross Trainer Elliptical, Air Resistance 1723 Cross Trainer, or Air 1725 Elliptical Cross Trainer.
